FIGHT SMARTER NOT HARDER
SPM is also known as "Acupuncture Boxing" because it specializes in striking the vital points of the body. SPM uses a variety of open-hand techniques such as the phoenix eye fist, gingerfist, three-finger spear, and bamboo slicing hand. These strikes are intended to cause paralysis, cut off blood flow, and block the distribution of chi to vital areas of the body.
Through specific exercises the student begins to develop feeling, timing, hand placement, balance, proper breathing, and correct striking power. For example, a key exercise in SPM is known as "Sticky Hands" (Chi Sao). Practitioners learn to feel an opponent's intent, stick/control their movements, and launch counter-attacks.
